Today, my friend Marissa turned one year old. Anyone who knows one year olds can imagine the challenge in photographing them. But we did OK. A little patience and some fast shutter speeds seemed to do the trick!

It doesn’t hurt that she’s a super cutie.

We started out with a few ‘formals’. She wasn’t so sure about this….

Pool time was definitely a necessity today. This is always a bit more fun with friends….

This was followed by the nakedness….

And of course cake. For the very first time ever!

We all know there comes a point when the party’s over and it’s time to nap. This was a pretty good sign.

Happy birthday Marissa! Thanks for sharing your big day. xo

Michelle and I had a super fun, wicked cool time with Jim and Jess last night, chasing light and climbing walls. Here’s a peak, but for the whole story, check out our new wedding site by clicking here…

Aaaand….It’s official! Michelle and I are launching our wedding biz together. While our individual work also continues, the weddings will be a joint effort, and we’ve got all sorts of great things up our sleeves! Stay tuned and check out http://rockthewedding.wordpress.com.

While I really appreciate having a week of few shoots, I still feel the need to blog. Another thing that’s nice, is that I have a chance to get to some ‘lost files’ - those that I haven’t gotten around to processing. (because the shots I take for myself often get neglected!)

This is Tofino and the couple that joined us this year were new additions to the usual clan. So…they got picked on by the photographer!

Here it is…lost file installment #2. Just a few! Just for fun.

I rarely go a weekend without a shoot, but I actually got a break this week. I don’t like it when I go several days without a post. So, I thought I’d fill the gap before my next shoot with my friend Dave’s cool Harley…just in case you needed something new to look at!

Ah, another engagement session. These sessions are my absolute favorite. And we found the most amaaaazing little nook downtown! I love coming across these surprises! A lot of the shots required some sweet-talking so that we might get into locked areas, shoot through shop windows, etc. But that’s just part of the fun…

LOVE the sassy. Check out those shoes!

And the sexy.

And the cool.

And when the REAL characters come out! (This might be one of my favorite shots ever).

And really…we all deserve a wet willy once in a while…

Me still trying to master the flare…

Then, of course, when dowtown, one must indulge in coffee at the U.P.

And check out this sweet spot. Loving this!

Thanks R and C. I had a blast. And I look forward to shooting your wedding in a few weeks!

One of my best girls from Vancouver has been visiting for the past couple of days, and in addition to our girl-chat and hang-out time, (without wine, which was weird!) we did a a big-belly shoot. Yesterday was rainy, and we did the best we could downtown. Today, however, we got really lucky with some amaaazing skies and clouds. Here are a few to ponder before I get to work on the rest….

She was such a sport and I know I was having more fun than she was. (she’ll thank me later!) I just have to remember that Jo isn’t as agile as she usually is! She still humored me though, and climbed the hills and lay down on the rocks. Love ya babe(s)! xo

Standing on top of the world….

The light was so incredible here that I think it looks like she’s standing on an inside movie set!

Ferris’ Oyster Bar was nice enough to let me shoot in their deliciously lit space…

I got a letter today telling me that this photo made the finalist category in a Photographer’s Forum/Canon contest. Out of over 3000 entries, mine is somewhere in the top, to be chosen for one of 104 winners. (4 top place and 100 honorable mentions). It will also be published in the Best of Photography Annual 2008! Here’s hoping the little shark makes the final cut! He was my very first post on this blog, but worth posting again….

I’d had a shoot with these kids before, but due to hunger and fatigue (not me!), we didn’t get to finish. In their words, they were DONE!

So we met again today.

These two were an absolute hoot! I think the essence of them comes shining through. Hmmm, I wonder who the ham is in the family? And who does she take after? (ahem…Uncle J…*cough!*)

Soooo hard to choose just a few to post!

These are the gorgeous children of great friends, who I didn’t get to spend enough time with! They let me follow them around their wild yard and capture them with my camera.

I LOVE the freckles! (too bad I don’t love my own freckles that much!) These are fun, polite, very sweet kids who I can’t wait to see again….

This morning, bright and early, Michelle (click her name to see her blog) invited me out to shoot this adorable couple with Vintage bikes. The light was wicked, and we had a perfectly cloudy sky. This kind of ‘practice’ shoot is so much fun. Keeps us on our toes, and keeps us learning from eachother! Thanks Michelle….what will our next project be, I wonder?
