My Favorite Tree

May 10, 2009

Down the street from where I live, there is an empty lot. I see now, that it has been sold and I am holding my breath, hoping that they don’t get rid of my favorite tree! Every time I walk by it, I dread the day they start building. And every time, I swear I will go back and take a photo. So, I finally did. This tree reminds me of a painting – and it sits and looks out on the beautiful Olympic mountains.

I will continue to visit it, as long as I can, and dream of the day when I buy the lot on the ocean. And I promise – I will never tear down the tree.

You know, I once met a Turkish couple who were painters. Their subject was ‘a dying way of life’. They painted farmers and documented peasant life in general. This photo and your story kind of reminds me of that. I wonder if there are possibilities for you like that.
