My Mini Road Trip – Part 1

November 4, 2008

Ok, it wasn’t really a road trip. It was a plane ride, a visit, a bit of a drive, and then….ahhhh….bliss.

I was off to visit my cabin. But first, I stopped in to see my long time friends in Vernon. I see them once a year, love them to bits and whenever we meet it’s a frantic push to get all our conversations from the past 12 months in, because we have so much to talk about! Then, typically, when I leave them, we email and phone call about all the things we forgot to mention. Then another 11.5 months goes by, and we start the process all over again!

I cannot tell you how absolutely stunningly gorgeous the Okanagan is in the fall. It is incomparable. More on that later. First — I need to introduce Jayde doing her favorite thing!

Looking at the picture below actually makes me feel nauseous. I thought getting old meant having a glass of wine and feeling it the next morning, but as it turns out, swinging on a swing did me in!

P-a-t-h-e-t-i-c!

Chayse, who is rather appropriately named, pretty much refused to let me photograph him. He would actually run away, which was quite funny. So, I had to be rather sneaky with these. I was either getting this look (my camera is big, but it’s not SCARY!) or getting shots that reminded me of surveillance photos!

And last but not least. Kelley whispered to me, “I’d rather not get my photo taken today…” Whispered because she didn’t want to give the little ones any ideas about not getting their photos taken. (At least I think that’s why she was whispering). I couldn’t resist this one though and had to post it! (sorry, Kel…) It’s an underdog…er….an underduck. (Kelley corrected me before I remembered that an under-dog is who you stick up for, not the all the way under swing push. Got it).

It was so great to see you guys, as fleeting as it was and always is. I love sitting in your kitchen and talking food and health and life and reminiscing and relaxing. Might I remind you again of the friends you have that are moving to Victoria? 2 couples you know, is it? Hmmm….time for a change perhaps? :) xo

The pictures of Kelley and the kids turned out great Rebecca…particularly nice seeing the blue sky and sunshine as they play in the park.

Bec, it is always our pleasure to have you stay with us … we missed you when you left. How I wish I could have carried on w/ you to the cabin, maybe next time. Love you, Kel
